4 HOT Tips To Make Sure Your Non Profit Video Production Gets Seen

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? The answer is NO! If you make a great video and no one sees it, what's the point? Here are 4 tips to make sure your nonprofit video gets seen.

1. Promote the video at a live event

If you are like most nonprofits, you have an annual fundraiser where you pack as many potential donors in one room as possible. Show your video at this event! A great strategy is to create a shorter promotional version of your video that you can send out ahead of time. Good promos really do help increase attendance. When the event is over, put the video on your website and send the link to everyone who attended. Encourage them to share the video with people who weren't able to attend the event. If the video is good, most people will watch it a second time and share it with friends and colleagues.

2. Promote the video within your organization

Social media is everywhere and the ability to share information has never been easier. Between Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google+, almost everyone has a network with a deep reach. When you launch your video pull your people together and set a goal for video views. Think of it like a group fundraiser. Instead of money, you're trying to raise the number of people watching your video. It's amazing how quickly a message can spread when people put their minds to it.

3. Weave the video into your marketing strategy

Not too long ago some businesses and organizations didn't have a website. Today not having a website is blasphemy. Internet video is taking a similar trajectory. More and more organizations are feeling pressure to have one. One important thing we learned from rolling out websites was to refer to it every chance we got. We have all gotten pretty good about making sure that our URL is baked into every piece of marketing material we produce - biz cards, brochures, newsletters, ads, stationary, email signatures, etc. Internet video should be no different. Refer to your video in your marketing materials every chance you get. The more references you make, the more views you will get.

4. Promote the video using keywords

Another thing we've learned from websites is the value of keywords. Keywords matter! Every day billions of people search for things on the internet. The words they use when conducting these searches are keywords. When considering keywords, there are two things to pay attention to (1) the number of searches that are made every month using those keywords and (2) the level of competition for those keywords. If there is a lot of competition for a particular keyword, it means there is already a ton of content using that keyword and the odds of someone finding yours are slim to none. When you start scoping out your video, it's not a bad idea to have someone help you do a little keyword research up front. You'll be glad you did when the right people find and watch your video.

Use these 4 tips to make your next nonprofit video production a smashing success!
